A 3D look at feminism in London
About 200 came along to join the debate.
Held in Conway Hall in Holborn, Central London on Saturday 11 October 2008, Feminism in London 08 was the first large scale conference organised by the London Feminist Network.

With a theme of “the power of women”, the day featured some of the many feminist activist groups that are campaigning in and around London. There were talks, workshops and a chance to network. The event was for women and pro-feminist men. And afterwards there was a fantastic fundraising comedy night at a pub nearby.
What they said about Feminism in London 08
“Well done! A fantastic day of wonderful inspiring feminism!”

“The day was a huge success – so many people came which was great. Fantastic selection of workshops and speakers. Excellently organised. A day to be proud of.”

“The whole day was excellent and extremely inspiring. However if I had to pick a favourite moment it would be taking part in Cynthia’s workshop. An extremely interesting topic and a wonderful speaker. Thanks to the organisers for getting her involved in the event!”

“I just wanted to say how profoundly impressed I am by the Feminism in London event that took place yesterday. I want to thank the organisers who took such care to ensure that the day ran smoothly, was tremendously powerful and had an amazing positive atmosphere – truly inspirational!”
Suffragette theatre
During the day when speakers were not on the main stage, there was live suffragist and suffragette theatre. Featuring the women behind ‘Tea with Mrs Pankhurst’ a play by New Strides Productions (http://newstrides.co.uk). “Emmeline Pankhurst and Selina Cooper took tea together many times. Yet these two suffrage leaders had not only different approaches to gaining the vote, but also different motives. Exploring the suffrage movement and the conflicts within it, this fast paced production gives great insight into Edwardian Britain and beyond” and Rise Up Women – a living theatre experience by Springboard Arts, which ” is designed to enable participants to experience how it may have felt to live moments in the life of the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison and the women’s suffrage campaign”.
